It is with great sadness that the Bluegrass Chapter notes the January 4, 2012 passing of Richard H. Prewitt, P.E., a mechanical and electrical engineer who was retired from the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, where he had specialized in the analysis and management of the sanitary sewer collection, conveyance, and treatment system. Mr. Prewitt had eclectic interests with regard to all aspects of engineering and science. For example, even though his formal engineering training was in the mechanical and electrical specializations, he was an avid student of and thoughtful commentator on matters pertaining to hydrology and hydraulics.

His seemingly limitless enthusiasm about engineering and scientific matters resulted in several inventions; and his intellectual abilities were recognized by Bluegrass Mensa, an organization in which he was active. However, he also appreciated the importance of human relationships and recreation, as evidenced by his passion for sailing with family and friends.

The Bluegrass Chapter extends our thoughts and prayers to Richard’s family and friends. To view the obituary click here.
